Rebecca Lynn Griffin Long

SHREVEPORT, LA – Services will be held for Mrs. Rebecca Griffin Long, 59, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 28, 2012, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Thursday evening between the hours of 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Rebecca was born on January 22, 1953, to the late Norman and Barbara (Turner) Griffin and passed away on September 23, 2012, following a sudden illness. She was a Special Education Teacher at Ridgewood Middle School for 23 years and enjoyed being a part of the Special Olympics. Rebecca was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother whose greatest joy was her grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing and was an avid reader.

Rebecca is survived by her husband of 37 years, Richard H. Long; sons, Jeffrey Long and wife, Nicole, and Griffin Long; sisters, Raynelle Griffin Branch and Cynthia Griffin Hill; and her grandchildren, Tenley and Brodie Long.

Honoring Mrs. Long as pallbearers are Vaughn Jordan, Chris Halverson, Gary Halverson, Scott Ayman, Chris Cherry, and Micah Stewart.

Memorials may be made to the Special Olympics, 1016 Jack Wells Blvd., Shreveport, LA. or to the charity of choice.
