Randall L Mills

A celebration of life for Randall L. Mills of Shreveport will be held on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road Shreveport La. at 11 am. A visitation will be held at 10:30 am. Officiating the service will be Deacon Steve Lehr.

Randy was born on November 12, 1946 to Ray and Ruth Mills in Houston, Texas and passed away on January 29, 2024 in Shreveport, La. He was a life-long member of Broadmoor Baptist Church in Shreveport La. and was always strong in his Christian faith.

Randy received his Bachelor of Science degree at Louisiana Tech and worked many years as a Bacteriologist both in the Navy and at Southern Methodist Hospital in Dallas. During his college years at Louisiana Tech, he was one of the team who initiated and built the campus radio station where he drafted his younger brother, Larry, to volunteer as Music Director. For years afterward, Larry would kid his older brother Randy that campus radio station almost flunked him out of college.

Randy was thrilled to donate the funds to create a new chair at La. Tech for their Microbiology Department. He never lost his love for that University. He also bequeathed funds to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.

Randy never married and was a perennial bachelor. He is survived by his brother, Larry Mills, and sister-in-law Lynn Mills.
