Peggy Laverne Chumney Vacca

Celebration of Life service for Peggy Laverne Vacca, 80, will be held 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 2, 2010 in Centuries Memorial Chapel with Msgr. Carson LaCaze officiating. The family will be receiving guests for visitation Friday, July 2, 2010 at Centuries from 8:30 a.m. until time of service.

Mrs. Peggy Vacca was born September 25, 1929 in Jackson, Tennessee to the late Parker and Ruth Inez Holloway Chumney and was called home June 28, 2010 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Mrs. Peggy provided thirty-two years of dedicated service as a Group Chief Operator with South Central Bell (AT&T). Mrs. Peggy will be remembered as a loving mother, a caring sibling, and a canny granny.

Mrs. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband, John G. Vacca; one daughter, Mary Helen Parker, and one brother, Skeeter Chumney. Left to cherish her memories and tell her stories will be one son, Michael Vacca, one daughter, Rita Faye and husband Cliff McCain Sr.; one sister, Patsy Chumney; two brothers: Jack Chumney and wife Betty; and Paul Chumney and wife Georgia; five grandchildren: Kim Anderson and husband Heath; Cliff McCain Jr. and wife Rachael; Kelly Parker and husband Matt; Jay Vacca, and Bradley Vacca, nine great-grandchildren, along with many friends and extended family members.
