OVIEDO, FL ~ Celebration of Life services for Mrs. Nita Helen Lott Thomas, 87, will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, November 12, 2011, in Centuries Memorial Park with Bro. Crawford Williams officiating. The family will be receiving friends for visitation from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, Shreveport, Louisiana. Interment will immediately follow graveside services.
Mrs. Nita Helen Lott Thomas was born March 21, 1924, to the late Chester Arthur and Margaret Willie Dunn Lott, was called to her heavenly home November 9, 2011, in Altamonte Springs, Florida following a lengthy illness. Mrs. Nita was a member of Ingleside Baptist Church where she enjoyed worshiping her Heavenly Father. Mrs. Nita was a student at Werner Park Elementary, Fair Park High School, and Vo-Tech where she received years of education preparing her for a rewarding career of nursing. Mrs. Nita retired as a nurse from Willis-Knighton Medical Center following many years of dedicated service.
Mrs. Nita is preceded in death by her parents.
Left to cherish Mrs. Nita’s memory and tell her stories will be her two daughters; Shareen Gibbs and husband Gary and Paula Wood and husband Welcome; grandchildren, Paul Wood, Stanley Wood and his wife Shermaine. Also, Jeremy Gibbs and his wife Emily, Joshua Gibbs and wife, Rochelle. Mrs. Nita had six great-grandchildren, Skyla, Aniya and Elijah Wood and Savannah, Addison and Phenix Gibbs. “Maw-maw” was the most a grandmother could possibly be to her “babies.” And all six of these precious little ones loved their “Maw-maw” so very much. She adored them and they adored her. She often said how blessed she was because of the love from all her grandsons and double blessed to have six little angels that kissed and hugged on her.
Honoring Mrs. Nita as pallbearers will be Paul Wood, Stanley Wood, Welcome Wood, Ricky Walker, Jeremy Gibbs and Joshua Gibbs. Honorary pallbearer will be David Walker.
Memorials may be made in Honor of Mrs. Nita Thomas to St. Jude Childrens Research Hospital or to charity of donor’s choice.
The family wishes to express special gratitude to Life Care Center of Altamonte Springs Staff for the care and compassion provided Mom during her time of need.
