Mrs. Howard entered into rest on April 8, 2019 after a lengthy battle with kidney failure. She was a native of Springhill, LA and she resided in Keithville for the past 20 years.
Mrs. Howard was preceded in death by her parents, Leamon G. Torrence and Belva W. Torrence; her son, Richard L. Howard; her sister, Gloria Stegall; and her beloved husband of 20 years, Thomas F. Nye, who was also the adopted father of her children.
Mrs. Howard is survived by her husband, Bobby R. Howard; her siblings, Dr. Leamond G. Torrence and wife Alexis, Beth T. Auger, and Janet Gremillion; her children, Tiffany N. Figgins and husband Shawn, Brandon G. Nye and wife Misty, Jerry P. Nye and wife Carissa, and Shawn M. Howard; her grandchildren, Thomas-Lee G. Nye, Leamon-Jay F. Nye and wife Jennifer, Leanza-Dawn R. Nye, David Figgins, Kevin Figgins, Jeffery Harris, Coty Harris, Brandon Harris, Dustin, Bryson, and Kimberly; and many great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Howard was an executive secretary for International Paper for many years. Later in her life she worked in child care for several establishments. Mrs. Howard was a very kind, caring woman who was always there for her family. She was a very strong woman. Following the divorce from her first husband, she worked two jobs while being a single mother. At times she would do without to ensure that her children had what they needed. Mrs. Howard was a devout woman of faith. She often encouraged others to read the Bible, to love God, and to search for a more righteous way of living. During her final years her doctors and other medical staff would frequently comment on her incredible will to live. She chose to endure and fight a hard fight to give her a few extra years with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
