Mrs. Myrtle Grace Barber Mumphrey

Shreveport, LA

Grace passed away peacefully on April 2, 2011 with her family by her side. Grace was born on February 5, 1926 in Shreveport, LA to Charles and Myrtle Barber. Mrs. Mumphrey was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and was on the Holy Trinity Altar Society. She was an extremely loving and devoted wife, mother and retired pediatric nurse.

Mrs. Mumphrey was preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Charlene R. Mumphrey and Bobbie Mumphrey Homan; two brothers, Benton and Horace Barber and only grandson, Christopher Mumphrey.

Left to cherish beautiful memories of Grace is her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Charles Robert Mumphrey, Sr. of Shreveport, LA; children, James Mumphrey and wife Joyce, Charles Mumphrey, Jr. and wife Alysia, Michael Mumphrey, daughter Annette Mumphrey; sisters, Marquerite Monk, Jerrie Marze and Nadine Bizzell; granddaughters, Leslie, Jamie, Jennifer and Rachael; 4 great grandchildren, as well as, numerous nieces and nephews.

Services celebrating the life of Myrtle Grace Mumphrey will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral, Shreveport, LA. Officiating will be Msgr. Earl Provenza of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Shreveport, LA. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 8:30 a.m. until service time at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
