Graveside services for Mrs. Mary E. Carter, 85, of Shreveport, LA will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011, in Shady Grove Baptist Church Cemetery, DeBerry, TX under the direction of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Rev. John Harp of Brookwood Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, October 23, 2011, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.

Mrs. Carter was born in DeBerry, TX on November 22, 1925, and passed away in Shreveport on Friday, October 21, 2011. She retired from The Guest House as an L.P.N. twenty-five years ago. Upon retiring, she and her late husband found great joy in traveling. Mary was a faithful member of Brookwood Baptist Church, a talented seamstress and loved to knit, crochet and create beautiful ceramics. Above all else, she loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will be deeply missed.

Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 56 years, Mr. Bonnie Carter; and her parents, James and Errene Morris. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Sandy Harrell and husband, Larry of DeBerry, TX and Vicki Faith and husband, Donnie of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Laura Harrell, Justin Harrell and wife, Megan, Kaitlyn Harrell, Joseph Faith and Ashley Faith.

The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to Mr. Johnny and the “Greeters” at Brookwood Baptist Church and to all of Mrs. Carter’s caregivers.

Memorials may be made to the Shreveport/Bossier Rescue Mission in honor of Mrs. Mary Carter.
