Mary Anne Martin Taliaferro was born November 25, 1923 to Catherine and Charles Martin. She was a premature baby so small they placed her in a shoe box, hence the nickname Dolly was given. Both of her parents came on ships from Europe as immigrants. Their English was poor. Mary Anne grew up learning to overcome adversity and having very little materialistically speaking. She had a friendly personality and loved to be around people.
Mary Anne worked at Texas Eastern Oil and Gas Company where she met Robert Monroe Taliaferro, Jr. They married and had 4 children. Later on, 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Her legacy she leaves behind is one of great faith! All four children were influenced by her faith. Even the friends that frequently visited were encouraged by her persevering faith. She was a disciple that sat and listened by the radio and took notes in shorthand for years. Mary Anne attended Bible study Fellowship to complete all 10 years. She went on to study Precepts Bible Study another 10 years completing all courses. She was a Bible scholar and shared her knowledge whenever an opportunity arose. She was a humble woman full of grace and very loved by her family and all that knew her.
Our mother was a great prayer warrior. She attended prayer meetings on Friday nights for years. Her life was an excellent example of Christianity for her 4 children. I remember my mother sang sweet Christian songs as she worked in our house. The grandchildren were loved dearly by our mom. It’s uplifting to hear them share their memories of her and how she shared Jesus with them. The last over 3 years of her life, even with Dementia, our mother shared Jesus with her sitters talking to them and praying around them and with them.
My mom talked often over the years of wanting to live to be 100 years old. It was truly the desire of her heart. She made it. She was 100 years and 18 days old when she took her last breath. She now walks the streets of gold in heaven.
Mom, your family will love and miss you. You will live on in our hearts forever.
