Mary Ann Patterson, born Mary Ann Roppolo on November 18th, 1934, left her Earthly home on November 18th, 2021 to begin her eternal life in Heaven. Mary Ann was born in Shreveport, Louisiana, and continued to reside there as her and her husband, Charles Patterson, built both a fulfilling life and a large family together. Mary Ann and Charles were married for 68 years and have 3 children together: Chuck, David and Wayne Patterson.
Mary Ann was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother. More importantly, Mary Ann was able to fill each role with grace, humility and laughter. Mary Ann was a devout Catholic and spent her Christian life as an active and beloved member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in South Shreveport. Of her many achievements in life, Mary Ann was most proud of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Even during her later years, Mary Ann would light up at any mention or visit from one of her children or their growing families.
Mary Ann retired from Prudential Insurance after serving as an office manager for the majority of her career. Outside of work, Mary Ann enjoyed and excelled at a variety of crafts and retained a deep love for learning new needle-work techniques. Mary Ann had a gift for crochet and was able to create masterful afghans for her friends and family alike. Mary Ann also enjoyed cooking for those she loved and looked forward to preparing meals that would bring her family together. She was truly loved and cherished by all those who were fortunate enough to meet her over her lifetime but few were as fortunate or cherished as her own family.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her father and mother, Joseph and Nellie Roppolo, sister in law, Linda Roppolo, brother in law Jim and wife Peggy Patterson and her daughter-in-law, Beth B. Patterson.
Mary Ann was survived in life by her husband, Charles Patterson; their children: Chuck Patterson, David Patterson and wife, Pam and Wayne Patterson and his wife Beth; her dear brother, Tony Roppolo; her grandchildren: Chad E. Patterson, Allison Ward and husband Dakota, Robyn Harberger and husband Lincoln, Lauren Martin and husband Sean, Brooke Patterson and Trisha Addison. Mary Ann was also survived by her great grandchildren, Everett Leon Patterson, Madalyn Cunningham, Jones and Ike Harberger, Kyra Lynn and Tristin Addison.
A visitation for Mary Ann will be held on Monday, November 22, 2021 from 5 PM to 7 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Rd. Shreveport, LA 71108. A funeral service for Mary Ann will be held on Tuesday, November 23, 2021 at 10 AM in the Chapel at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Pall bearers will be Ronnie Vanni, Jim Berridge, Steve Pohl, Mark Pohl, Richard Simmons and Frank Roberts.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations in Mary Ann’s name be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital and that friends and family continue to be kind to themselves and others while relying on their faith as a guidepost for their daily interactions with strangers.
