A visitation for Linda will be held Friday, May 19, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life will occur Saturday, May 20, 2023 at 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating the service will be Rev. Paul DeRousse. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Mike Asher , Ronnie Carroway, DeWayne Kelly, Gene Taylor, Bill Thomas and David Whitfield.
Linda Lou Burns Massey was born in Magnolia, Arkansas to the late Leona Foster Burns and Prentice Burns. She worked for many years as an outstanding insurance claims adjuster. Her career took her to many places, serving in Baton Rouge, Dallas, Washington D.C. and Shreveport, to name a few. Linda was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She went to be with her Lord, Wednesday, May 17, 2023 surrounded by her family in Shreveport, LA at the age of 78. She will be missed by all those who loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Ron Massey of Shreveport, LA, daughters, Tammy Landry of Pace, FL and Kristen Long of Flower Mound, TX; grandchildren, Christopher Landry, Trent Long and Brandt Long; twin sister, Lera Powell of Springhill, LA; sister, Anita Rowe of Sherwood, AR; brother, Buddy McKay of Camden, AR; Half-Sisters, Sheila Harris of Camden, AR and Vicki McKay of Locust Bayou, AR; and aunts, Nellie Sims of Lafayette, LA and Leona Rogers of Magnolia, AR.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, John Wayne Brewer, Philip Cate and James Hollingsworth.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to honor Linda may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Rd, Shreveport, LA 71129.
