A graveside celebration of life for Linda Johnson will be held Tuesday, March 25, 2025 at 11 am at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport, La.
Linda was born October 20, 1952 in San Bernadino California to Russell and Josephine Nell Upton Prestidge. She married her husband Allen Mitchell Johnson on August 30, 1968 in Jefferson Texas. Allen and Linda built a life together in Stonewall, Louisiana where they were married for 57 years during which time they raised three wonderful children and a precious grandchild.
Linda was a true homemaker in every sense of the word. As a devoted wife and mother, she took great pride in taking care of her family and her household in every way. She spent countless hours cooking wonderful homemade meals for them, and to this day they will tell you,” No one can cook like Momma.” Linda was always pleased in keeping a neat, clean and comfortable home for her family. She also enjoyed being outdoors, doing yard work and tending to her large garden for many years.
Linda had a great love for music, classic country and legendary artists like Loretta Lynn and Elvis were among her favorites. Listening to albums on the record player was a cherished pastime. Her love of music spilled over to her family and friends in the way of fantastic dance parties she and Allen would throw on New Years Eve when the kids were growing up. Over the years she often enjoyed hosting family reunions and weekend get togethers, where everyone gathered at their home to enjoy great food, fellowship, card games, dominoes, pool and good ole family fun.
Not only was Linda a devoted wife, mother and grandmother; she was also a beloved caregiver to her mentally and physically impaired sister. For almost 40 years she dedicated daily her life, love, time and compassion to care for Vicki’s every need. In this respect, Linda selflessly demonstrated a faithful life of service to another, which is truly admirable and will never be forgotten.
“And the Lord said unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as you have done it unto the least of these my brethren, you have done it unto me” Matthew 25:40
