Mr. Les J. Lipsey was born on June 21, 1967 to Sammy Lee and Norma Vercher Lipsey in Alexandria, LA. As a small child, he moved to Shreveport, LA where he lived until his teenage years when his family moved to Waller, TX. It was there that his family served as cottage parents at Boy’s Country (a Christian Boy’s home). He graduated from Waller High School in 1985.
Les accepted Christ and was baptized at an early age. He later became involved in the youth groups at Summer Grove Baptist Church in Shreveport, LA and at Northwest Baptist Church in Spring, TX. His love for Christ extended into adulthood as he served and remained involved in his church. His love for teenagers inspired him to be a leader during many camps and mission trips.
Les married the love of his life and long-time best friend, Karyn, in 1987. His deep love for his wife, children, and grandchildren was his priority in life. His laughter could lighten the mood at any gathering and his tenderness could comfort the most broken-hearted. Les loved big and loved well, and his life was a testimony of service and kindness. He was a servant at heart and was often found helping a friend move or solving a problem. His friends were like family and could call with any request and he was there. Les loved to fish and his favorite time was out on the water with his father. So many lives were forever changed because Les was a part of their life.
Les enjoyed working at Avallone Garage Door and Iron Works. His love for people allowed him to create strong relationships with co-workers and even gave him the opportunity to pray with and for many of his customers. While working in the garage door business, he was able to work with his son, Sam, and daughter, Darlene, for several years. This was a very special time for each of them. In addition to the garage door business, Les worked as a boilermaker, a warehouse manager, and a maintenance supervisor at a retirement home.
Les Lipsey entered his heavenly home on May 28, 2021. He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Vercher Lipsey, and his father-in-law William Syvoid Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memory; his wife of 34 years, Karyn Smith Lipsey; his three children Samuel Syvoid Lipsey, Darlene and husband Daniel Gander, and Rebekah Lorraine Lipsey; grandchildren, Grace, Anthony, and Joanna; his father, Samuel Lee and wife Mary Lipsey; his siblings, “Chuck” Lipsey, Kelley Lipsey, “Chip” and wife Ruth Lipsey, “Muffett” and husband Timmy Carroll, Becca and husband Steve Crosby; his mother-in-love Patsy Smith; Brother-in-law Steven and wife Sharon Smith; brother-in-law David Smith; sister in-law Patty and husband Erik Henson; 25 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews.
