Kennie graduated from Fair Park High School in 1961. She later graduated from American School of Business. She was a homemaker, devoted wife, mother, and friend. She enjoyed many crafts including sewing, baking, painting, and music. She loved the Lord with everything she had and loved the Word of God. It was truly a lamp to her feet and a light to her path. Kennie was always loving, caring, and comforting to all that she met. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
Kennie was preceded in death by her first husband, Lamar Rascoe; parents, Hayward McKinney, Sr. and Amelia Stockman McKinney; brothers, Joel McKinney and Hayward McKinney, Jr.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 50 years, Cullen Tyrone McVay; sons, Richard Rascoe (Tonya), Yancy McVay, and Joel McVay (Cassie); daughter, Amanda McVay; grandchildren, Craig Rascoe (Caitlin), and Cara David (Marshall); great grandchildren, Cooper and Carter Rascoe, Johnathan and James David; brother, Walter D. McKinney.
A Visitation for Kennie will be held on Wednesday, December 27, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday, December 28, 2023 at 10:00 am at Centuries with Rev. Darrell Dean officiating. Interment will take place at Forest Park East Cemetery. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Russel Stuart, Dustin Pitcher, Bill Andrews, Craig Rascoe, Marshall David and Michael Crager.
