Karen received her Dietary Management Certificate while in Alaska and retired as a Regional Photo Manager from CVS. Once she retired, she loved making hand beaded jewelry and doing other activities such as crocheting blankets for her grandchildren. She loved weekly El Chico dates for chips and drinks with her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Albert Vincent Evans and Belva Kathryn Bong Evans.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 33 years, Larry LaPrarie; son, Sean Starr; daughter, Jenna Fortenberry (Jason); grandchildren, Sean Michael Starr (Ocean), Taylor Starr, Benjamin Fortenberry and Emersyn Fortenberry; sister, Joanie Deist (Kip), brother, Barry Evans (Barb); special friend, Suzy Powell and her beloved service dog, Molly. Also left to cherish her memory is her Mother-in-law Janice; numerous brother and sister-in-laws and nieces and nephews.
A visitation for Karen will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 12:00 pm. with Pastor James Hanks officiating. Interment will take place in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Barry LaPrarie, Gary LaPrarie, Jason Fortenberry, Zack Southwell, Dan Thompson and Keith Myers.
