Graveside services for Mr. John B. Hancock, 86, will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, December 30, 2017, at Centuries Memorial Park, and officiated by Rev. Mike Stowell of Keithville Baptist Church. Visitation will begin at 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
John was born March 4, 1931 in Latex, Texas and went to be with his Lord peacefully on December 25, 2017 in Stonewall, Louisiana.
John was retired from the United States Post Office and spent most of his time enjoying the outdoors, camping, and traveling with his lovely wife Dorothy. John always enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and their children, as well with his extended family at Keithville Baptist Church. John enjoyed arriving early at church each Sunday and having his time to talk to his pastor and his friends. John will be greatly missed by all, but especially his nieces and nephews as they spent many days together sharing laughs, stories and just enjoying each other’s company.
John was a proud American, and served in the United States Army. He was also a Mason, a member of the Shriners and the Gideon’s.
John was preceded in death by his parents, WJ “Bill” and Gertrude Hancock of Joaquin, Texas; his wife Dorothy Hancock; his sisters, Retha Murphy, Bernice Nichols, Elizabeth Thomson, Billie Kelley; his brothers, Lewis Hancock, Bob Hancock; his niece, Elizabeth Ann Danker.
John is survived by his sisters in law, Lucille Hancock, Helen Hancock Harvey; his nieces, Rebecca Soileau and her husband Don, Ester Wayne Davis and her husband Dale, Georgia Fay Monroe and her husband Nelson; nephews, Anthony Kelly, Kevin Kelly, Jimmy Hancock, Terry Hancock, Robert Hancock, Jerry Hancock, as well as many great and great-great nieces and nephews.
Memorials, in lieu of flowers, should be made to the Shriners or a charity of your choice.
