John Roger Foster, 49, of Shreveport, LA went to be with his Lord on December 24, 2021 after a long fight with pulmonary fibrosis and the after effects of his transplants. John was born at Barksdale Air Force Base in Bossier City, LA on February 7, 1972.
John grew up in Sunset Acres and graduated from Woodlawn High School in 1990. He met the love of his life at Morningside Baptist Church in Shreveport, where John and Sheryl married in July of 1995. John had a love for sports cards and memorabilia, and started his own card business called Foster Cards. After working for CST Office Supplies, and Innovative Logistics at GM, John became co-owner of Deck the Walls, Packages Plus, Frame of Mine, as well as Mail-It-ASAP. Later, John began working for Flextronics with AT&T Device Support, where he became a manager. What John enjoyed most was spending time with his family and friends, playing basketball, softball, and flag football, playing in his fantasy football and baseball leagues, rooting for LSU and the Saints, and working in his yard just like his Memaw taught him. His church home was The Simple Church of Shreveport, even though he had to watch online.
John was preceded in death by his mother Christie Rogers Kennedy; father James Roger Foster and wife Margo; father-in-law Lee Roy Stanley; maternal grandparents Charles and Pernia Rogers; and paternal grandparents Paul and Helen Foster.
Left behind to cherish his memory are his wife of 26 years, Sheryl Stanley Foster and two sons, Joshua John Foster and Caleb Christopher Foster; sister, JoAnna Copes and husband, Rick of Blanchard; step-father, Gary Kennedy of Shreveport; brothers, Craig Kennedy and wife, Melissa of Shreveport and Blake Kennedy of Bossier City; numerous beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews, and one fur baby, Max.
A special thanks is given by the family to UTSW Lung Transplant Team and Rehab, LSU Faculty Clinic, Specialty Rehab, Christus Home Health, Christus Hospice, and Grace Home for the wonderful care John received. John also appreciated Irene Bandaries for caring for him at home for two years.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation, PF Warriors, or UNOS.
A visitation for John Foster will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 1 PM with a service to follow at 2 PM. Officiating the service will be Brent Shoalmire and Craig Kennedy. John will be laid to rest at Centuries Memorial Park.
