Jimmy Edwards was born on June 14, 1937 and went to be with Christ his Lord on December 13, 2021 at the age of 84. He was born in Alco, Louisiana, the son of Esmon and Hazel Edwards. Jimmy attended Leesville High School where he met the love of his life and bride of 61 years, Audrey Hodge Edwards. He graduated from high school with a basketball scholarship to The Allen Military Academy Junior College where he earned an Associate in Arts degree. He continued his education at McNeese College earning a Bachelor of Science degree. He was a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Fraternity. Jimmy retired as a soil scientist with 31 years of employment to the USDA Soil Conservation Service. Jimmy loved his family greatly and all things outdoors including camping, hunting, fishing, and gardening. He also loved annual vacations and frequent gatherings with friends. He loved his church where he served in various capacities through the years. But most importantly, Jimmy loved Jesus. His commitment to Christ, reflected in Jimmy’s character, will be remembered and extended beyond the grave.
Preceding Jimmy in death are his parents: Esmon and Hazel; and son-in-laws: Neal Fort and Scot Falcon.
Left to cherish the memories is his devoted wife, Audrey; three daughters: Jakeitha Holt and husband Keith; Gayla Tates and husband Guy; and Lisa Fort Falcon. He is also survived by his precious grandchildren: Justin Holt and wife Carlee; Brittany Alexander and husband Chris; Zachary Fort and wife Kathryn; Dianna Woodward and husband Oliver, and great grandchildren: Lainey, Raileigh, and Mason.
Jimmy also considered his in-laws: Charlotte Williams, Delmar Hodge, and Winston Hodge to be his own siblings and had a great love for them. Honoring Jimmy as pallbearers will be his family.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Jeri Kahre and her Life Path Hospice Team and Tami Rollins for providing such great care for our beloved.
