SHREVEPORT, LA – Jimmie Lee Parker, 72, peacefully passed away Friday, September 14th, surrounded by loved ones, after a seven year courageous battle with cancer. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who enjoyed riding his Harley. Jimmie was a 1963 graduate of LSU Baton Rouge and played in the university band. In younger years, he enjoyed playing the drums in the band, “The Jive 5”.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 19, 2012, between the hours of 11a.m. – 2 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. As requested by the family, blue jean casual dress is encouraged. A private family only memorial service will be held on Thursday.
Jimmie was preceded in death by his parents, Wilbert and Idel Parker; his son, Alan Parker; and Kimberly Durr, mother of his son, Jayme. He leaves behind his daughter, Shannon Faye Parker; son, Jayme Lee Parker and fiance’, Lindsay Carpenter; and Joan Schulze, mother of his children, Shannon and Alan.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to all of his friends who stood by him and were always there to help. A special thank you to Dr. Donna Walker for all of her care and compassion and to those of Willis Knighton North, you are very appreciated.
