SHREVEPORT, LA – A memorial service for Dr. Jarvis R. Waller will be held at 10 o’clock a.m., Thursday, February 7th at Memorial Chapel of Broadmoor Baptist Church. Officiating will be Dr. Tom Harrison. The family will receive friends at this time.
Dr. Waller was preceded in death by his parents, Dr. Leroy T. Waller and Lillie Beene Waller; five brothers, four sisters, and son, Thomas. He was born and spent most of his childhood in Haynesville, Louisiana. On August 10, 1949, he married Mary Elda Whitsitt, and they had three children. The surviving children are Stanley P. Waller and Lisa Carol Waller Keith, both now residing in North Carolina. He is also survived by Mary, his wife of 63 years, three grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
Dr. Waller practiced dentistry for children in Shreveport until his retirement in 1984, except for the time he served with an Army artillery unit in Korea. He was a faithful member of Highland Baptist Church and later of Broadmoor Baptist Church. He served as a deacon and choir member at both churches. Until his final illness, he was in regular attendance in Jerry Jones’ Sunday School Class at Broadmoor. His earthly remains now rest beside his son Tom, while Jarvis enjoys his heavenly reward with his Lord and with his many friends and family members who waited for him there.
