James "Jim" Towns Jr., age 79, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on Thursday, September 19, 2024. Born in Coronado, California, Jim was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, whose life was marked by faith and service.
Jim's greatest achievement was embracing Christianity, which guided his life and inspired those around him. He was proud to have earned athletic scholarships to Louisiana Tech and enjoyed a fulfilling career as a postal clerk. His passion for giving back was evident in his work with the prison ministry, where he found purpose in helping others.
A devoted golfer and pool player, Jim thrived in competition, but his greatest joy came from spending time with his grandchildren, whom he cherished deeply.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 40 years, Charlotte Lockwood Towns; his stepchildren, Paul Cutchall (Renee), Gary W. Cutchall, and Cindy Thomas (Tom); and his grandchildren, David Inman, Eric Cutchall, Natalie Barton, Taylor Cutchall, Ross Thomas, Tayt Thomas, Lillian Thomas, Brandi Colson, and Christopher Cutchall. He also leaves behind 13 great-grandchildren, as well as nephews Keith and Dale Mosley.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Milam Towns, Sr. and Pauline Palmer Towns, and his sister, Juanita Mosley.
A visitation will be held in his honor on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 2:00 PM.
