James "Jim" Person

James “Jim” Person passed away on December 10, 2024. Jim was born in Monroe, LA. on May 26, 1947, to Era Madden Person and Marcus I. Person. Jim was a graduate of C.E. Byrd High School and attended LSU-S. He retired from the postal service as the Manager of Huntington Station in 2011 after 28 years. Prior to going to work for the Post Office he had several service stations and a wrecker business. Jim, was affectionately known as Pops, loved to play with his grandchildren and read books.

Visitation will be Thursday, December 19 at Centuries Memorial, 8801 Mansfield Rd., Shreveport, LA 71108 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Graveside service will be held at Centuries Memorial Park on December 20 at 11:00 AM. Officiating the service will be Fr. Rothell Price.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Mark and Era Person, son, Jason Person, brother, Bill Person and parents-in-law, Doctor Michael and Mamie Balistrella, brother-in-law, Jim Carlton.

Jim is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Carolyn Balistrella Person, their son, Eric Person (Jessica), grandchildren, Dalton and Madalyn. He is also survived by his sisters-in-law, Kay Person, Virginia Carlton and nephew, John David Person (Alex), nieces, Angela Moles (Peter) and Julie Carlton (Mary), along with great a niece and nephews.

Honoring Jim as pallbearers are Jim Boston, Tommy Johnson, John David Person, Peter Moles, Eric Muslow and Joe Balistrella with Billy Williams as an honorary pallbearer.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Jim's memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
