Jimmy was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on June 12, 1944 and grew up in Greenwood and Shreveport, Louisiana. He graduated from Fairpark High School in 1962 and went on to serve in the United States Air Force as a plane mechanic. Jimmy met his wife, Elaine, and married in 1972. He worked for AT&T for 35+ years as a tool and die maker, and retired.
He is survived by his only child, J.D. Jones; sisters, Susan Huffman, Patti Frederick, and Sandy Simpson; brothers, Roger Stivers and Richard Stivers, along with a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended family members.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Elaine; both parents, Milton and Willie Mae Clariece Summerlin Jones; and brother, Richard Jones.
