A Visitation for Roger will be held on Thursday, December 15, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 AM. Interment will take place in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Aaron Porterfield, Travis Kotzur, Andrew Lafitte, Greg Frewin and Matthew Dowdall.
James Roger Dowdall was born July 11, 1935 in Brooklyn, New York. He passed away December 10, 2022.
Roger served in the Navy and Air Force Reserves. He moved to Shreveport, Louisiana in 1956 with his wife Joanne to be a professional roller skating instructor. Roger retired from the Shreveport Police Department with over 25 years of service. Roger loved spending time with his friends and family. He was an avid golfer. He will be greatly missed by those who knew him best and loved him most.
Roger was preceded in death by his daughter, Cathy Dowdall and niece Tiffany.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 67 years, Joanne Dowdall; sons, Jimmy (Peggy) and John (Julie); daughter, Christy (Daniel); grandchildren, Melissa (Andrew), James (Cherie), Courtney (Aaron), Cody, and Katie (Travis). He is also survived by six great grandchildren.
