Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Herman Louis Williams, 94, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 7, 2016 at Emmanuel Baptist Church, 5850 Buncombe Road in Shreveport. Officiating will be Rev. Chad Hardbarger. Interment will follow at Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams entered into rest on Sunday, July 3, 2016. He was a native of Natchitoches Parish and had lived in Shreveport for 62 years. Herman was a WWII U.S. Army veteran who served in China and Burma as part of the contingent of men responsible for building the Lido Road across the Himalayas. After the war, he worked in construction for several years, but most of his career was spent as a milkman for Foremost Dairies.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his first wife of 44 years, Pauline.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Herman is his wife, Patsy; two daughters, Beverly Sue Williams and Rebecca W. Sullivan and husband Bobby; one son, Herman Louis Williams, Jr. and wife Brenda; five grandchildren, Julie Longmire, Susan Gutierrez, Mandi Longmire, Pete Sullivan and Hannah Hyer; nine great grandchildren; stepchildren, Kim Collins, Ruth Suire, James Franklin and their families. Mr. Williams is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Honoring Mr. Williams as pallbearers will be Pete Sullivan, Danny Gutierrez, Shane Longmire, Rick McLaurin, Chris Hyer and Dwayne Longmire. Honorary pallbearers will be Rodney Fletcher and Ray Simmons.
