Surrounded by her family at home at the age of 85, Helen "Peggy" A. Bass, of Shreveport, Louisiana went home to be with her Lord on Sunday March 29, 2020. She was born to Henry and Beatrice Bass on December 24, 1934 in Shreveport, Louisiana.
She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great grandmother and much more. She dedicated her life to serving others as a nurse, educating people as a Sunday school teacher, and being a vital member of the mission department at her church. As a nurse she worked at Physician and Surgeons Hospital, Schumpert Hospital, Promise Hospital, Harmony House, and Booker T. Washington Nursing Home, before retiring at the age of 80, showing her commitment to nursing and caring for others.
Peggy loved education, doing word searches, knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She was an avid reader and enjoyed shopping. Most of all she loved family gatherings, where they played bingo.
Left to cherish her memory are her former husband, Fort C. Gladney; Children: Joni Dickson (Ray), Monica Lott (Jerry), Michael Gladney (Carolyn), Lashan Gladney, Denise Gladney, and Diane Gladney; Grandchildren: Misty White, Ashley Morris, Lora Lott, Kendall Lawrence, Passion Gladney, Victoria Rogers, Dianglo Mahoney (Kenya), Lakira Gladney, Chelsea Lee, Camry Gladney, Erick Mckinley Jr., Gabby Mckinley, Raven Mckinley, and Jakim McKinley; Great Grandchildren: Bryce Morris, Detrick Howard, Kaden Harris, Kaleigh Mahoney, Chase Mahoney, Morionna King, Paris Parker; and Special Granddaughter: Monica King (Cookie).
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Beatrice; and sisters, Betty Jean Bass, Billie Jean Bass, and Johnnie Lee Jackson.
In light of the public safeguards pertaining to the current COVID-19 pandemic the family will be having a private viewing and graveside service at Centuries Memorial Park with Minister Jimmie L. Davis Sr. officiating.
