Gregory Scott Thompson of Minden. Louisiana went home to be with his Lord and Savior at the age of 49 on September 17, 2023. Gregory was born November 9, 1973 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Robert "Bob" Thompson and Cynthia "Cindy" Thompson.
Greg graduated from Southwood High School in 1994. He lived and worked in Shreveport, LA until moving to Minden, LA to be a part of Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries. Greg loved to travel and visit family. He loved going to church to sing (often off key) and clapping to Gospel music. Everything changed with COVID as his health declined and he didn't have the freedom to visit family and attend church. In 2021 Greg had double pneumonia and was critically ill. He spent a week in ICU and with assisted breathing was able to finally talk. His first words were "Hi mom, can I have a frosty", and you can bet his dad got him one as soon as he could have one. All the Doctors, nurses and staff at Minden Medical were delighted that he recovered. He will be greatly missed for his sweet smiles and loving hugs. Greg was so special to us and to others that knew him. Mr. Reimer always wrote his name on the Order of Service at FBC Mansfield and gave to him which made him feel special. When attending church, Ms. Diane Deas would send candy bags to Greg and he loved them so much. He really enjoyed going to church at FBC Mansfield.
Greg was preceded in death by his grandparents, aunts and uncles.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Bob and Cindy Thompson of Mansfield, LA.; brothers, Rob Thompson and his wife Kendra of Fort Smith, Ark. and Chris Thompson and his wife Susan of Shreveport, LA.; aunt, Patti Marter of Mansfield, LA.; uncle, Paul Thompson and wife Louellen of Shreveport, LA.; nephews, Shayne Thompson, Jordan Thompson and his wife Kendal, Ashton Thompson and Lincoln Thompson; great nieces, Lily and Elvie; great nephews, Jayden and Stone; step-nephew, Kingston Jackomin.
A visitation for Gregory will be held on Tuesday, September 19, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home with Dr. Chad Hardbarger officiating. Interment will take place in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Shayne Thompson, Jordan Thompson, Ashton Thompson, Lincoln Thompson, Jordan James, Ricky Thompson. Honorary pallbearer will be Kingston Jackomin.
The family would like to express special thanks to all the staff, especially Mr. David, Ms. Mattie, Ms. Amy and Ms. Michelle at Woodlands Evergreen Presbyterian Ministries in Minden, LA for the care, compassion and love Greg received for so many years.
