Georgia was born February 2, 1928 in Houston, Texas. She graduated from Milby High School and then went to work as a teller for Harrisburg Bank. She finished her banking career as a loan officer at the VAC Credit Union in Shreveport, LA 40 years later. She was a dedicated, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was a Bible teacher, Prayer warrior, and devoted friend and encourager to all who knew her. Proverbs [31:31 says “Honor her for all her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate” This Scripture surly describes the life of Georgia.
Mrs. Houlgrave was preceded in death by her parents, Edna and Elmo Stovall; sister, Margie Leverne and her beloved husband, Harry Earl Houlgrave. Those left to cherish her memory are her two daughters and their families, Dinah and James Roach (daughter, Christa DiPaul and husband Parris and their children, Lynley and Trip; son, Jim Roach and wife Jordan and their children Austen, Taylor, and Jacob) and much loved daughter by marriage, Laura and Pat Whitnel (son, Michael and daughter, Christine.) She will be forever remembered by her nieces Patti McCann and Pene’ Huntington. Family was priceless to Georgia. Her days were filled with much joy as she shared life with each of them.
We, the family, would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to her care giver, Dianne Johnson. She spent the last 3 years loving and caring for our beloved mother.
Our family is so thankful for the beautiful woman, Georgia, that taught us so much about faith. May her legacy of faith live on the through us.
