Felton Dickson, age 86, of Shreveport, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, December 29, 2024. Felton was born in Coushatta, Louisiana, and proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. After his military service, he spent 27 years working for BellSouth, where he made lifelong friends and gained the respect of his colleagues.
Felton was a man of deep faith and commitment to his church. He loved attending services and being actively involved in church activities, always willing to lend a hand and serve others. His faith was the cornerstone of his life, and he found great fulfillment in sharing his beliefs with his community.
Above all, Felton was a devoted family man. He was married for 58 years to his loving wife, Brenda Bradford Dickson, and together they built a strong, loving home filled with warmth and joy. Felton was an exceptional father to his sons, and a cherished grandfather to his five grandchildren. He loved nothing more than spending time with his family, whether it was sharing a quiet evening at home or celebrating life’s special moments together.
Felton also had a zest for life and adventure. He was a passionate traveler, having visited all 50 states and several countries, creating lasting memories along the way. In his younger years, he enjoyed hunting and spending time outdoors, but as he grew older, his greatest joy came from being surrounded by the love of his family. He also enjoyed the challenge of crossword puzzles, a hobby he engaged in daily.
Felton was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Barnet Dickson and Shirley Nelson Dickson; three sisters and two brothers. He is survived by his wife, Brenda; his sons, Derek Dickson (Kalie) and Jared Dickson; his grandchildren, Braydon, Carter, Cameron, Sawyer, and Sadie Dickson; and numerous nieces and nephews, all of whom will dearly miss his love, guidance, and unwavering support.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2025, from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. A Celebration of Life service will follow from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Felton will be laid to rest with military honors at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home & Park, Veteran Garden II, Lot 131, Grave 8.
Serving as pallbearers are Braydon Dickson and Jared Dickson, Bobby Bowden, Derek Dickson, Steve Dickson, Blake Holmes, and honorary pallbearer Dawson Bray.
