E.J. passed away peacefully on April 16, 2020 with his adoring wife at his side. E. J. , born the 4th son to James E. and Elva L. Baker on July 29, 1933 in Ashland, Virginia.
Surviving is his loving wife, Pauline (Pollye) Baker, two daughters, Teresa Baker Bryant and husband Danny and Marsha Baker McComic, four grandchildren, five great-grandchildren.
E.J. was schooled in Virginia, attending Henry Clay High, Richmond Professional Institute in Richmond, VA. Majoring in business. Continuing his love for his fellow man and country, he served faithfully in the US Air Force and the Louisiana National Guard during the Korean War.
In civilian life E. J. found himself serving in many different jobs and professions including railroad, insurance, American Linen, Hallmark Gift Store, Battery Plant and many more. The longest tenure was barbering for 30 years. Concluding his employment was eleven years where he served faithfully at a local funeral home.
E. J. was a member at Rose Park Baptist Church where he enjoyed Christian fellowship with many sweet and loving members.
E. J. also served as an Auxillary Deputy Sheriff for ten years. Taking great pride in the service the Auxillary performed.
E. J. was a kind, considerate man. Many people will miss his good nature and easy going spirit.
A private family service celebrating the life of E. J. Baker will be held in Centuries Memorial Park Cemetery.
