While sorrow may fill our hearts at the passing of our beloved Delores Terese Scott Kuehnemund, we have a blessed assurance because of Jesus that she has entered her eternal home, on April 3, 2025, at the age of 78. Delores was born in Des Moines, Iowa, on July 16, 1946, to Bruce & Barbara Scott. Falling in love with Thomas Kuehnemund, the couple married on June 6, 1970, at St. Norberts and were married 54 years. The couple spent the early years of their marriage in Reese, Michigan, and later moved to Shreveport, Louisiana, until her death. Delores graduated beauty school to pursue a career in cosmetology & opened her own successful hair salon in Fairgrove, MI. She later trained as an esthetician in Shreveport where she enjoyed all things hair, nails & skin. Upon the birth of her two children with Thomas, Delores became a dedicated stay at home mom. Delores spent many years serving at her church, St. Mary of the Pines, and volunteering with the Girl Scouts of America. Spending quality time with the grandkids was her favorite pastime as well as playing games, painting ceramics, crafting, sewing, baking cakes & traveling.
Survived by her husband, Thomas, and their two children, Chris Kuehnemund of Shreveport, LA & Beth (John) Hughes of Flint, TX. Delores is also survived by her four grandchildren, her absolute pride and joy: Olivia (Will) Fenton, Benjamin Hughes, Hannah Hughes & Samuel Hughes. Also, two brothers: Larry (Jane) Scott of Fairgrove, MI and Tom Scott of Devine, TX. Delores is preceded in death by her mom, Barbara, and her dad, Bruce.
A service to honor & to celebrate the life of Delores will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2025, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home in Shreveport. Visitation will begin at 10 AM followed by a graveside service at 11AM officiated by Monsignor Price of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church of Shreveport.
A special thanks to the amazing & compassionate staff at Christus Highland for treating our precious mother with grace & dignity as she passed into her eternal home.
13 And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. 14 For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died.15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns will not meet him ahead of those who have died. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the believers who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, we who are still alive and remain on the earth will be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18 So encourage each other with these words. 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 NLT
