Deborah Melinda Fuller Hopkins, of Bossier City, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, June 27, 2021 at the age of 66. She was born July 11, 1954 in Bogalusa, Louisiana to Melvin Reeve and Deborah Nell Mason Fuller.
Debbie, as she was affectionately known, was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority at Louisiana Tech University. She was a homemaker and an Air Force wife. She was a licensed Louisiana florist who loved to make people smile and managed the flower shop at Barksdale AFB and then for Kroger’s grocery store. She was a Sunday school teacher of little children and, in Okinawa, Japan, was appointed as Director of the Children’s Ministry for the Kadena Air Base Chapel. After moving back to the US, she spent four years as the set coordinator and designer for the children’s musical productions at our church. After moving back home to Louisiana, she continued to serve in her church as teacher for the preschool ministry.
She enjoyed sewing, crafting, gardening, cooking and baking. She was a very creative person and a passionate gardener. She always tried to look for the positive side of things, the silver lining, with a humorous outlook on life in general. She cared about others and would find ways to help or be there for them. She spoke her mind and didn’t worry about what other people thought of her. She was strong in her Christian faith and unwavering in her beliefs yet tolerant of others.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Thomas “Tom” Hopkins; daughter, Erin Michels and husband, Carl; grandson, Adam Michels; sister, Claudia Sieger and husband, Ron; brothers, David Fuller and wife, Sherry and Melvin Fuller and wife, Debbie; brothers-in-law, Ted Hopkins and wife, Datha and Terry Hopkins and wife, Jan; sisters-in-law, Tona Chrisman and husband, Mark and Margaret Broussard and husband, Mike and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Melvin and Deborah.
A visitation for Debbie will be held Thursday, July 1, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at Bellaire Baptist Church, 1210 Bellaire Blvd., Bossier City, LA, followed by a memorial service at 1:00 PM. Officiating the service is Bro. Randy Harper, Pastor of Bellaire Baptist Church. Flowers are more than welcomed for the service since Debbie loved the beauty of gardening so much.
To all those who prayed for Debbie and her family, as well as all the positive thoughts we like to express our sincere gratitude. We would also like to thank Christus Highland and Colonial Oaks for their tremendous care.
