David Everett Norcross, of Shreveport, Louisiana was called home to his Lord on Saturday, September 24, 2022, at the age of 91. He was born June 22, 1931, in Beaumont, California to the late Ethel Crowell Norcross and Charles Everett Norcross.
David had many accomplishments in his life. He honorably served in the US Marine Corps, serving in the Korean War, and survivor of the Battle of Chosin Reservoir earning three Purple Hearts. He worked at South Central Bell/AT&T as a PBX installer for over 35 years in Shreveport before retiring. He served as a Royal Ranger Commander for many years.
David enjoyed being a part of the Wise and Wonderful group at Shreveport Community Church. He enjoyed their endless activities of travel, dining at restaurants, and fellowship. He liked to garden and grow vegetables. His favorite flower was the red amaryllis. He was a passionate reader with Louis Amor being his favorite author. He helped guide the lives of many young men during campouts as their Royal Ranger Commander. He looked forward to playing Mexican Train on game night with friends. He loved his family and we loved his stories of the Chosin Reservoir as a fighting Marine in North Korea. David had the heart of a warrior both as a dedicated Marine and a committed prayer warrior for his family and friends. Dad would be in his chair praying for his family and friends each morning as the sun rose and then he would have his cup of Community coffee. For the last eight years, he has missed his wife, Jackie, of 60 years. They are together and once again, all is well.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Vicki Norcross Johnson, and her husband Jerry Dale Johnson, son, Steven David Norcross, and his wife Elaine Ruth Norcross, and granddaughter, Jacqueline Jamie Harris, brother, Daniel Griffin Norcross and wife Mary Dean and numerous nephews.
David was preceded in death by his wife and best friend, Evelyn Jacqueline "Jackie" Willis Norcross, his parents, and his sister, Norma Norcross Livingston.
A visitation for David will be held Thursday, September 29, 2022, from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108.
