David was born on February 25, 1942, in Gallup, New Mexico to Jennie and Jones Harrison. At an early age, Ed McClaskey became his step-father and he spent many childhood years traveling the world to such places as Libya and France. He joined the navy out of high school and became a corpsman serving in San Diego and Kodiak, Alaska through 1965. David went on to become a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist, working at hospitals in Florida, Texas, and Louisiana.
He married Barbara Sugden on February 25, 1966 on his birthday so he’d never forget his anniversary. And he never did. They raised two children, Steven and Carolyn.
David and Barbara liked to travel whenever they got the chance, visit friends, and go to garage sales on the weekends.
David was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather; brother, Fred Harrison; sister-in-law, Carol Harrison; and nephew Mike Winkler.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Barbara; sister, Karla Winkler and her husband Dean; Brother Nick Harrison and his wife Terry; son, Steven Harrison and his wife Leona; daughter, Carolyn Richard and her husband Scott; five grandchildren, Marina, Blair and Tabetha Harrison, Harrison and Alexandra Richard; nieces and nephews, Mark Winkler, Terrie Huseby, Tina Winkler, Lori Rizzo, and Paul Harrison. He will be missed by many more.
A private funeral for the family will be held on September 30th. If desired, friends may make a contribution to a charity of their choice in David’s name.
