Charles M. Orr

Charles Milton Orr of Shreveport, LA, known as “Pappaw” by all his family, passed away peacefully in the early morning of August 27, 2016 at the age of 87. Charles was born May 30, 1929 to Ray Orr and Lorene O'Neal in Texarkana, AR.

On May 8, 1967 Charles married Helen Griffin Orr, and they moved to Shreveport with their children. He spent the remainder of his life in Shreveport spending most of his free time on a golf course. He and his wife were dedicated to raising their family and their family business.

Charles was blessed with a work ethic second to none. He was a tenured employee of East Texas Motor Freight, serving as Terminal Superintendent for 36 years. In 1979, Charles broke ground on Pro Car Wash in Bossier City eventually building 3 car washes from the ground up in Shreveport Bossier that continue to serve our area for over 37 years. Mr. Orr could be found servicing his car washes still at the age of 87. There is no doubt his life’s work was raising and supporting his family, but his entrepreneurial spirit was more of a duty buried in his heart.

Charles is preceded in death by his mother and father, brother Monte Orr of Texarkana, TX, and his daughter Anna Beth Beck Thomas of Shreveport, LA .

Charles is survived by his loving wife of 51 years Helen, daughter Nancy Wyatt and husband Gary, of Texarkana, Tx, his son Rusty Beck and wife Barbara, of Shreveport, LA, his grandchildren Jennifer Hawthorne, Alisha Smith of Texarkana, TX, Derrick Thomas, Jessica Thomas Jester of Shreveport, LA, and great grandchildren , Haley, Hunter, Sydney, Lukas and Lilly. He is survived by his brother, Lawrence Orr and wife Francine of Texarkana, AR, and his sister in law Delna Orr of Texarkana, TX.

A visitation for friends and family will be held at Centuries Funeral Home in Shreveport, LA at 9:30 am on Tuesday August 30, 2016. Graveside services will be immediately follow at 11am with Dr. Carl Rhoads officiating.
