Cathy Carney Boatright Nash, of Stonewall, Louisiana passed away on Sunday, February 13, 2022 at the age of 67. She was born November 8, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Sunshine Grigg Carney and James "Jimmy" Carney.
Cathy will always be remembered as a larger-than-life personality that made everyone she met feel valued and celebrated. Cathy turned a dinner into a dinner party and made an afternoon at home an adventure.
For over 25 years Cathy served her community as a nurse, caring for others in ways that ministered to their body and spirit. She was known as the Singing Angel Nurse during her work with hospice patients and during her tenure at the VA, where she was named Nurse of the year in 2013. Cathy earned a 4.0 in her coursework towards her BSN, a distinguished degree in nursing, that she earned while working full time.
Her hobbies included gardening, crafting, and shopping. She was known for her gorgeous English garden and her knack for keeping things green. But above all, her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandsons. Abram and Asa were the absolute apple of her eye, and to know Cathy was to know how proud she was of her boys.
As we remember Cathy, we will hear her laugh in our hearts, her voice echoing in every Brooklyn Tabernacle hymn, and we will never hesitate to add another piece of jewelry or use leopard print as a neutral. She was one of a kind.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Michelle Boatright Keith and husband John; grandsons, Abram Michael Keith and Asa Patrick Keith; sister, Gail Carney Johnson and husband Glenn; nephew Jonathan Jackson and wife Kari; great nephews Gavin Jackson and Keegan Jackson; sister-in-law, Sandra Boatright Brown and husband Larry; brother-in-law, Barry Boatright and wife Tanyau; nephews, Daniel Boatright and Christian Boatright; nieces, Sarah, Bethany, Rachel, Alissa and their families; step daughter, Liz Haws; step grandchildren, Joey, Tracy, Jeremy and their families.
Cathy was preceded in death by her husbands, Michael Boatright and Tony Nash and her parents.
A visitation for Cathy will be held Tuesday, February 15, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life will occur Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Gateway Assembly of God, 8925 Youree Dr., Shreveport, Louisiana. Officiating the service will be Rev. Barry Boatright and Rev. David Logan. She will be laid to rest in New Ebenezer Cemetery, LA-153 , Castor, LA.
