Carlos D. Taylor was born July 28, 1926 in Nash, TX to Jerome Alexander Taylor and Lydia Roy Taylor. He honorably served his country in the United States Army during WWII in the occupation of Japan. Following his discharge, he worked alongside his Dad in their dairy business. Afterwards, he began his career in finance which took him to several cities in Texas, Kansas and eventually New Orleans, LA; where he and his family remained for over 25 years. After relocating to Shreveport, he continued his career with Dixie Savings/Oak Tree Savings. After his retirement, he continued to work part-time for Enterprise Car Sales.
Carlos was a faithful member of Summer Grove United Methodist Church for 39 years. He was very involved with his church serving as an Usher, Financial Board and numerous other positions. He enjoyed fishing on Cross Lake with his brothers in Christ, Terry Booty, Dick Hull and Jimmy Baum. He adored spending time with his family and friends most of all.
Carlos went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana at age of 98.
Carlos was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Maxine Hinton Taylor; wife of five years, Mae Watson Taylor; parents, Jerome and Lydia Roy Taylor; and sister, Karon Taylor Brock.
Left to cherish his memory are is daughters, Sheri Taylor Yrle (Michael) of Loranger, LA, Jeri Taylor Rose of Shreveport, LA, Faith Watson North (Steve) of Roswell, NM and Angel Watson Ehrhard (John) of Benton, LA; sister, Ermalene Taylor Brewer of Midland, TX; grandchildren, Kristi Davidson Hardesty (Jay) of Folsom, LA, Kimberly Rose Green (Adam) of Corinth, TX, Adam Rose (Teri) of Baytown, TX, Jacob North of Atlanta, GA, Sara North of Raleigh, NC, Emily North of Denver, CO, Leah North of Cambridge, MA, Rylee Powell of Midland, TX, Lacey Suiter of Haughton, LA, Haley Suiter of Hemet, CA, Savannah Ehrhard of Benton, LA, Tiffany Ehrhard of Benton, LA, Jennifer Thurston (Taylor) of Haughton, LA and Jamie Ehrhard of Shreveport, LA; great grandchildren, Taylor Davidson of Lafayette, LA, Caden Hardesty of Folsom, LA, Mason Hardesty of Folsom, LA, Sophia Holmes of Corinth, TX, Claire Green of Corinth,TX, Jack Green of Corinth, TX, Landon Rose of Baytown, TX and Reece Rose of Baytown, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, family friends throughout Texas, Colorado, New Orleans and Shreveport.
A visitation for Carlos will be held Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. He will be laid to rest in Red Lick Cemetery, 3601 N. FM 2148, Red Lick, TX at 3:00 PM. Officiting the service will be Rev. Willis Dear. Honoring him as pallbearers will be Michael Yrle, Jay Hardesty, Rick Rose, David Rose, Carl Rose, Adam Rose and Adam Green.
