Bobbie was born in Trinity, Texas on August 29, 1936 to James Knox Polk Scarborough and Elmina Walker Scarborough. She was the youngest of six girls who were referred to as the “Scarborough Girls”.
Bobbie grew up in Trinity, Texas and graduated from Trinity High School. She and her first husband, Charles W. Owens, lived in east Texas and eventually moved to Shreveport where she worked for TriState Oil Tool as an executive assistant. She and Charles later moved to Houston, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1994. She later met and married Gilbert Sanchez who survives her. They eventually moved back to Shreveport to be closer to family.
She loved to play bridge, read, travel, dance, and cook meals for her family. She and Gil traveled the world during their life together.
Bobbie is also preceded in death by her grandson, Mark Daniel Owens, Jr. and by her sisters Lenora Allen, Marie Anderson, Odelle Stepherson, Billie Goodrum, and Jerrie Vaught. She is also survived by her son, Michael Wayne Owens, and wife, Mignonne; her daughter, Shelley Sroufe and husband, Richard ; her son Mark Daniel Owens, Sr., and wife Jeannie; and grandchildren, Sarah Niforos, Michael Machowski, Jr., Lauren Moffett and Megan Picou; and many great grandchildren. After moving back to Shreveport she loved spending time with her granddaughters Lauren and Megan and their families Norm, Baileigh, and Maci Picou, and Zachary Moffett, Jr.; all of whom will greatly miss their precious “Meemo”.
