Betsy Picket Bell was born on September 26, 1939 in Martin, Louisiana to the late William David Pickett and Hazel Mosely Pickett. She retired from City of Shreveport Finance Department and Willis Knighton Health System Admitting Department after many years of service.
Betsy was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. She was a devoted Christian and believed with all her heart in the Lord. Betsy was always ready for adventures especially with her three sisters. Together they shared unforgettable memories and tons of laughter going to every corner of the United States. Her greatest joy in life was spent with family and friends. She adored on her grandchildren and great grandchildren, more than anything. Betsy was a chocolate lover and was known for her chocolate chip cookie bars.
Betsy went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 2, 2024 in Shreveport, Louisiana. She will be deeply missed and treasured forever. She is now reunited in Heaven with her sisters, Doris Bamburg and Dorothy Giddens; brother, Posh Pickett and Buddy Pickett; son-in-law, Brent Barber; great granddaughter, Reagan Barber; daughter, Debbie Castleberry; and son, Dewayne Bell.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kathy Barber; son, Larry Bubba Bell and wife, Linda; sister, Dinah Claudia Puckett; brother Joe Pickett and wife, Joyce; grandchildren, Adam Bell, Amie Chatham (Chris), Allison Barber, Alyssa Knepper (Brandon), Blake Bell (Kendra), Jared Barber (Hailey), Emily Corley, Joseph Bell and Katilyn Bell; great grandchildren, Jordan, Aaliyah, Kyla, Hadynn "Tootie", Lillian, Abigail and Lainey; two great-great grandchildren, Rhaelyn and Brynleigh; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
A visitation for Betsy will be held Friday, September 6, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life at graveside at 2:00 PM at Thomas-Wren Cemetery, 1365 Hwy 787, Coushatta, LA 71019. Officiating the services will be John Harp and Jared Barber. Serving as pallbearers will be Blake Bell, Chris Chatham, Brandon Knepper, David Pickett, Joe Windham and Harold Giddens with honorary pallbearers, Adam Bell and Joey Pickett.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at Willis Knighton North, especially, Keke, Angie and Lauren. They would also like to thank Dr. James Jackson and Erin, and Riverview Care Center for all of their care throughout the years.
