Donald Read Waters 81, passed away Aug. 18th, 2004. Born Oct. 24, 1922, Kansas City, MO. to Stanley and Marian (Adams) Waters, and they moved to Seattle when he was 10 months old. Donald graduated from Queen Anne H.S. in 1938. He then attended the U.W and served in the U. S. Coast Guard in WWII.
Donald was married for 57 years to his beloved wife Margaret.
He was a King Co. Deputy for two years, and a Seattle Police Detective for 24 years. After retirement he owned Wedgwood Frame Shop "Waters of Seattle".
A life-long student his hobbies beginning as a young man, included hockey, judo, golf, flying, carpenter, frame-maker, calligrapher, stamp collector, volunteer at Seattle Arboretum, and President of Queen City Lawn Bowling.
He enjoyed every one of his friends and there were many. He loved to tell a funny story and a good joke.
He is survived by wife Margaret; daughter Patricia (Terry) Bolinger of Yakima; grandson Jeff Bolinger of Yakima; granddaughter Jeni of San Diego; brother William (Pat) Waters; nephews Don and Bill Waters.
Special appreciation to caregivers Dee, Carol and Nora. Thank you to Providence/Hospice of Seattle. Remembrances may be made to your favorite charity. Donald requested no funeral service. Just raise a glass and toast your friend with fond and funny memories.
