Ruby McBride

October 15, 1918 - August 11, 2011

Ruby Bishop McBride, a long time resident in the Elmendorf area, died at The Stockdale Nursing Facility, Thursday August 11, 2011. Ruby was one of six children born to Will Bishop and Effie Thompson Bishop in the Yoakum area. She is survived by her brother Meredith, two of her three children, eight grandchildren, five great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her daughter Shirley and her siblings Bertha, Charlie, Leona and Verna.

In her life, Ruby had three children; Shirley Frances Witt (Gerald), Ruth Jeannette Roe (C.W.), and Carl A. Gregory (Tina). She had eight grandchildren; Yvonne, Becky, Clive, JoNette, Richard, Todd, Wendy and Melissa. There were twelve great grandchildren. Kristen, Alex, Mark, Michael, Jessica, Jade, Nick, Cole, Chase, Autumn, Kelsey and Ricky. Also, there were three great-great grandchildren; Carly, Dallas and Cale.

Ruby was a good cook, loved gardening, her dogs and music. She played the piano and the harmonica and was an avid reader.

Viewing will be on Sunday, August 14, 2011 from 11:00 am to Noon at Buffington Funeral Home, Shiner, Texas. Memorial Service will be held at the funeral home in the chapel at 1:00 pm. A prayer will said at the gravesite in Oak Grove Cemetery, Yoakum, Texas at 2:00 pm.
