Funeral Services are under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner, Texas and will be held on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church in Shiner, Texas with Reverend John Britsch officiating. Interment will follow at the Shiner City Cemetery in Shiner, Texas.
Lillian was born in Shiner, Texas on July 9, 1919. She was the daughter of Christian C. and Annie (Boehm) Cook. Lillian received her Associates Degree and Teaching Certificate from Southwest Texas College in San Marcos, Texas. After teaching for a short time, Lillian became a bookkeeper, which she did for the remainder of her working career. She married Clifton Bailey on June 24, 1950 in Corpus Christi, Texas. Lillian enjoyed watching football, especially the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Aggies. She liked to travel, and loved her travels throughout Europe. She has crocheted many afghans for family and friends. She liked going to the ballpark to watch her grandchildren play baseball. Lillian liked to play dominoes, read, and work crossword puzzles, but she hated losing at bridge. Lillian was a member of the Women’s Pilot Club and the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary.
Lillian is survived by one son; Chris Bailey and his wife, Mary of College Station, Texas, one grandson; Samuel L. Bailey of College Station, Texas, two granddaughters; Catherine Samuel, and her husband, Nick of Austin, Texas, Soni Holladay and her husband, Boone of Houston, Texas, one great-granddaughter; Bailey Holladay of Houston, Texas, one brother; Oscar Lee Cook of Lagrange, Texas, two sisters; Mary Blume of Lagrange, Texas, and Alice Kotzebue of shiner, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; Christian and Annie Cook, her husband; Clifton Bailey, two brothers; Edwin Cook, Charlie “Boy” Cook, four sisters; Martha Barta, Eleanora Holub, Anita Wiekel, and Ida Maeker.
