Our precious mother and friend, Laura M. (Underbrink) Strubhart, passed away peacefully into the arms of our Lord on June 2, 2021 at the age of 95 years. She was born March 21, 1926 in Riviera, Texas to Orlando and Grace (Remingler) Underbrink. She went to Catholic school in Vattman, Tx with her siblings. She would tell stories of working and playing on her family farm and how much she loved helping her daddy with planting and milking cows. When she was 19 years old she worked at Walter Craig Wholesale House in Kingsville Tx as a (self-taught) bookkeeper. Laura at the age of 14 years, met a handsome man Anthony (Tony) Strubhart, who she knew she would marry one day. He went off to war for 3 years, returned and still in love, they married January 16, 1946. They shared their lives together for 55 years raising 13 children on their small dairy in Riviera Tx. Laura was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was known best by everyone for her kindness and sweet smile. After raising her children she and her husband moved from Riviera to Shiner, Tx. Laura was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church. She was active and dedicated her time for many years to Catholic Daughters, Alter Society, KJZT Society, VFW Auxiliary and American Legion Auxiliary. Laura was a woman of unwavering faith, devotion and love, shown not only by example, but shared freely with family, friends and strangers. She had a love for the beauty of the outdoors all her life. She spent many hours a day doing yard work and gardening. There will be a big void now that she has left us, but she will not be forgotten and will forever be in our hearts.
