Janice Hill, 78, of Hallettsville, Texas passed away early Sunday morning on September 13, 2020. Janice was born on June 8, 1942 in Hallettsville, Texas to Joe and Helen (Rother) Grafe. She graduated from Sacred Heart Catholic School. She married Charles Hill and they welcomed three children in their marriage: Angeline, Joe Nathan and Hannah. Janice has four grandsons; Grant, Jarrett, Jaden and Lyric.
Janice was active in the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Christian Mothers and singing with the church choir. She enjoyed sewing and joined the quilting club. Her favorite saying was “Pray…just pray”. Janice lived her belief and spent countless hours in Perpetual Adoration, Divine Mercy prayer group, Bereavement committee, leading the rosary before mass and serving as a Eucharistic minister. Her rosary was always with her as she prayed it daily. She would say as traveling with friends and family, “Do you all want to pray the rosary now?” Janice also volunteered at LAMB and Festival of Lights decoration committee. She knew her faith instinctively, although was amazed at all she could learn! She joined a study with God’s Embrace Ministries and studied “Growing in the Holy Spirit”. Her heart celebrated the love of her Father.
Though she suffered with a lung disease, Janice accepted her life situation and rejoiced in every breath with a positive attitude. In response to any complaint, she would comment “Well, this doesn’t affect how great my coffee tastes right now.” She encouraged those around her to enjoy the ‘present moment’. She did not give up but many times believed her condition was a product of ‘being lazy’. Janice was the exact opposite of lazy. She loved and encouraged those around her and was the first to offer to serve. When Jesus brought her home, she was glad to meet him, face to face. John 14:3 “And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and welcome you into My presence, so that you also may be where I am.”
Her survivors include her children, Angeline Wieting and husband Hank, Joe Nathan Hill and wife Christie, and Hannah Hill; grandchildren Grant Wieting, Jarrett Wieting, Jaden Hill and Lyric Barnard. Her siblings JoNell Janecek, William (Bill) Grafe, Kathleen (Kay) Steinocher and Shirley Johnson.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Helen Grafe, husband, Charles Hill and infant son, Joseph Nathan Hill and twin brothers John and Joseph Grafe
