Georgia Mae Juranek, 93, of Shiner, Texas passed away on September 7, 2021. Georgia was born on September 1, 1928 in the Moulton, Texas area to Frank and Rose (Pohler) Pavlas. Georgia married William A. Juranek at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner on January 12, 1947. They raised their family near Sinton, Texas where they had a farm and raised cattle. Georgia moved back to Shiner in 1981 after the death of her husband. Georgia was a devoted housewife and wonderful mother to seven children. After moving back to Shiner, Georgia also worked part time as a gardener at Janak Nursery for about 30 years. Georgia loved her family. She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and spending time with the family. She was a member of SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner. She was also a member of Catholic Daughters, KJZT and the SS. Cyril and Methodius Altar Society.
Georgia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two sons, William G. and Kenneth Juranek and three brothers, David, Eugene, and Frank Pavlas and one daughter-in-law, Ann Juranek. Georgia is survived by four sons, Robert Juranek of Shiner, Ronnie (Phyllis) Juranek of Kingsville, Tom Juranek of The Woodlands, Andrew Juranek of College Station, one daughter, Rose (Mark) Rudolph of Wimberley. Georgia is also survived by two daughters-in-laws, Brenda Juranek of Corpus Christi and Shelly Juranek of Aqua Dulce. Georgia has two surviving sisters, Virginia Patek of Yoakum and Mary Ann Chunda of Shiner. Georgia had ten grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and numerous nephews and nieces.
A Gathering to Share Memories of Georgia will be held at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner on Sunday, September 12, 2021 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm.
A Christian Mass to Celebrate the Life of Georgia will be held at SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 10:00 am. A Rosary will start at 9:30 am. Interment will be at Sinton Cemetery in Sinton, TX at 3:00 pm.
Serving as pallbearers are grandsons, Mark Rudolph, Allan Juranek, and Jason Juranek and nephews, Mark Patek, Greg Patek and Jeff Chunda. Honorary pallbearer is grandson Matthew Juranek.
Memorial contributions can be made to SS. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner.
