Annette Eloise Blaschke of Shiner, Texas went to be with the Lord on February 1, 2022 at the age of 83 surrounded by her family. Annette was born December 30, 1938, the youngest of four girls born to Jim and Kristina Panus Kolacny, immigrants of Czechoslovakia. Annette was raised in Shiner and attended Shiner High School, where she was very active in sports. Annette married her loving husband, Erwin Adolph Blaschke on February 15, 1958 and together they raised their three sons: James, David & Andrew.
Annette worked in the leather industry for over 40 years, including Torel Inc. and Tandy Brands in Yoakum. Annette and Erwin spent many years together taking care of the family farm, which consisted of cattle, peacocks, and their own fishing tank stocked with humpback blue catfish. In her younger years, Annette fished and tent camped at Magnolia Beach with her husband, sons and friends on several occasions. in her later years, she went on road trips to visit her two sisters. Being of Czech culture, Annette was a great cook and baked delicious kolaches, strudels, and pies, to name a few. She hosted many family holiday gatherings in her home, which consisted of much merriment and laughter. She liked to sit on her front porch swing and always welcomed great conversations with anyone who stopped by for a visit. Annette's greatest pride, joy, and accomplishment was her family. She enjoyed attending their school events and loved them unconditionally and would do anything for them. She was a selfless, caring, loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and mother-in-law. Annette dedicated all of her life in Shiner taking care of family in her home, including her mother until she passed in 1994 and then her husband Erwin's passing in 1995 at the young age of 57.
Annette was a life-long member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Shiner.
Annette is survived by her sons James Blaschke (Karen), David Blaschke (Nancy), Andy Blaschke (Larissa); grandchildren Desiree Nitsch (David), Russell Blaschke, Ashley Blaschke, Christy Kalmus (Blaise), Chad Blaschke (Rachel), Charles Blaschke (Jaclyn), Cheryl Pesek (Jonathan), Rachel Rice
(Andy), Kevin Blaschke, Austin Blaschke; great-grandchildren Zane, Bree, & Nate Nitsch, Hayden, Meghan, Star, & Kylie Blaschke, Colby Blaschke, Deuce, Reese, Brody, & Emmy Blaschke, Grace & Addison Pesek, Grayson & Addison Rice, Kohen &Koryl Blaschke; great-great granddaughter Charlee Rose Blaschke.
Annette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 37 years Erwin Blaschke; her sisters, Anesha Davis, Mildred Norris, and Mary Kolacny who died in infancy.
Visitation will be held at 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 pm with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner.
A Mass of Christian Burial with Father Bryan Heyer officiating will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church, with burial to follow at Shiner Catholic Cemetery in Shiner.
Pallbearers are her sons James, David, and Andy Blaschke, and her grandsons Chad, Charles, and Kevin. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great granddaughter.
The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Saundra Anderson and the Yoakum Community Hospital and Dr. Tyson Meyer, Social Worker Lisa, all nurses, care-givers, chaplains, and volunteers at the Hospice of South Texas (Dornburg Center of Compassion) for the highest quality care of Annette during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the Blaschke family requests that any monetary donations be made in Annette's memory to the Hospice of South Texas, so they can continue to help future patients and families that will face this same journey.
