She was born Wilma Elizabeth Scharf on October 9, 1933 in Chicago, IL to Richard Fritz Scharf and Grete Sophie Mathilda (Tegtmeyer) Scharf, the oldest of four children.
She graduated Lindblom Technical High School in Chicago. After marriage to Oscar Hillig, Wilma moved to California where she resided until her death. Wilma worked as an executive assistant in the aerospace industry, after proudly raising their four children. Upon retirement, she married Alan Ihde, her husband of 27 years until his passing. They enjoyed traveling and attending her grandchildren's many activities.
Wilma enjoyed keeping in touch with her friends and family via the internet. She was an avid puzzler and maintained the tidiest house in the neighborhood.
She is survived by her four children, Heidi Hillig (Dale) Roleder, Wendy (Brian) Kubond, Erich (Dana) Hillig and Trudi (Roger) Babich, her nine grandchildren, her sister, Margaret Philips and brother Heino Scharf. Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and her brother, Robert Scharf.
Her family will gather to scatter her ashes, per her wishes.
