She was born in Page County on November 29, 1934 and was the daughter of the late Noah Thomas “Tommy” and Virginia Cave Grimsley.
Mary Lou attended Shenandoah High School; she was a homemaker and a member of the Shenandoah Pentecostal Holiness Church. She grew up in Page County and moved to Elkton in 1957.
On July 16, 1955 she married Joseph W. Shifflett, who survives.
She is also survived by her sons, Larry Shifflett and wife, Dawn, and Thomas “Tucker” Shifflett all of Elkton; three grandchildren, English Hilbert of Elkton, Brandon Shifflett of Stanley, and Tommy Shifflett of Harrisonburg; two great-grandchildren, a sister, Dorothy Hammer and husband, Mensel, of Elkton; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two children, Dawn and Jody Shifflett; and a sister, Margaret Shifflett.
The family will receive friends 6-8 pm on Friday, February 19, 2016 at Shenandoah Pentecostal Holiness Church; she will be moved to the church after 1:00 pm on Friday.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the church with Larry Sullivan and Pastor Carter Dean officiating. Burial will follow at Elk Run Cemetery.
