Ruth was born January 3, 1919 in Town of Herman to Carl and Clara (Stock) Arnhoelter.
For eleven years Ruth worked at Plastics Engineering where she met her future husband, Gilbert Voigt. On July 1, 1950 Ruth and Gilbert were united in marriage at Immanuel UCC. He preceded her in death on May 22, 1984.
After her family was raised Ruth worked at Thimmig’s Restaurant, retiring in 1981.
She was a former member of Immanuel UCC Church where she sang in the church choir and taught Sunday school. Currently she was a member of Ebenezer UCC in Sheboygan.
Over the years she volunteered at the Sheboygan Red Cross Blood Bank.
Ruth’s hobbies included making crafts, gardening, and collecting angels. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. After Gilbert’s retirement the couple spent many winters in Arizona.
Ruth is survived by three daughters, Mary Voigt of Sheboygan, Doris (E.J.) Wuestenhagen of Sheboygan, and Carol (Karl) Knoener of Howards Grove; four grandchildren, Paula (Bob) Welch of Franksville, WI, Sarah (Clint) Ward of Cleveland, WI, Andy Knoener and Jenny Knoener, both of Howards Grove; two great-grandchildren, Jolene and Nate Welch of Franksville; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by two brothers, one sister, and a son-in-law, Mostafa Loukmari.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 2, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Ebenezer UCC, 3215 Saemann Ave., Sheboygan, WI 53081. Rev. Lorri Steward, Associate Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 2:00 p.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at Greenlawn Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Ruth’s name for Ebenezer UCC, Immanuel UCC, and the Sheboygan County Humane Society.
