Richard McDonell, age 67, of Sheboygan, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, March 22, 2014 at St. Nicholas Hospital. He was born July 23, 1946 in Manitowoc to Donald and Eleanor (Weyenberg) McDonell. His family moved to Sheboygan where he attended Longfellow Grade School and Lightfoot School in Sheboygan Falls. For a number of years Richard was employed at Cold Storage in Sheboygan and later through RCS.
Rich along with his dad enjoyed taking care of and training Husky dogs and picking wild asparagus along the railroad tracks. His dad was an engineer which led to Rich’s interest in trains of all sizes. Rich loved playing cribbage, listening to country music and watching old TV shows. He also enjoyed making calendars which he gave as Christmas presents to his family.
He is survived by his brothers and sisters, John McDonell, RoseAnn Folz, Kathy (David) Kasten, Pat (Frank) Kreidler, Michael McDonell, Diane (John) Labbadia, Thomas McDonell, Roxann (Jeff) Wagner, and Chuck McDonell; his aunt Cornelia (Fritz) Reitmeyer of Manitowoc; fifteen nieces and nephews; twenty-one great-nieces and great nephews; and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Monday, March 31, 2014 at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels. Rev. Robert J. Lotz, Pastor at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls, will be the officiant. A time of visitation and support will be held at Ballhorn Chapels from 1:30 p.m. until the time of service.
A memorial fund has been established in his name.
