Barbara was born April 22, 1928 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin, the daughter of August Carl and Carolyn (Kant) Gorske. She attended St. Paul Lutheran School and was a graduate of North Fond du Lac High School, Class of 1946. In 1950 she graduated with a B.S. degree from La Crosse State College. For a number of years Barbara was a physical education teacher in Watertown and Hartford, WI.
On June 21, 1952 Barbara and Jack Henneman of Sheboygan were united in marriage at St. Paul Lutheran Church in North Fond du Lac, WI. The couple raised their six children in Sheboygan, WI. Jack preceded her in death on April 25, 2008.
Barbara was a faithful member of St. Luke United Methodist Church where she taught Sunday school and Vacation Bible School. She was a member of Rachel Circle and served as its president for thirteen years. She was a United Methodist Women’s member and the 1989 Special Mission Recognition recipient. Barb held various offices in the Washington school P.T.A. and was a Manitou Council Girl Scout board member. She was on the Visiting Nurses Association’s Board of Directors, the Big Sister Board and president of the Sheboygan Y’s Menettes organization.
She is survived by her five daughters, Ruth (Larry) Hunter of Salt Lake City, Utah, Jacqueline (Bruce) Engel of Chanhassen Minnesota, Jane (Dan) Houck of Superior, Colorado, Betsy (Leonard) Hannasch of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, and Jody (Cesar) Hernandez of Phoenix, Arizona; her son, William (Andrea) Henneman of Wayzata, Minnesota; thirteen grandchildren, Elizabeth (Justin) Engelmeier , Jack (Bryn) Engel, James (Kristin) Hunter, Sarah (Kevin) Stoll, Mark, and Kate Hannasch, Alexandra, Andrea, and Abigail Houck, Bethany and Claire Henneman and Erik and George Hernandez, and two great-grandchildren Shae and Penn Engel, two brothers, her twin, L. Robert (Bea) Gorske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin and Charles (Patricia) Gorske of Fond du Lac, Wisconsin.
In addition to her parents and her husband, Jack, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lorraine DuPont, Edna Trotz, and a brother, Arnold Gorske.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 21, 2012 at St. Luke United Methodist Church. Rev. Roger Clapp will be the officiant. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name for St. Luke United Methodist Church.
Barbara was a devoted and selfless mother and grandmother. She cared deeply for her family, faith and friends and will be missed.
